Confidentiality

Confidentiality

The law protects the privacy of the relationship between a client and a therapist. This means that your participation in therapy and the content of your sessions may not be shared with anyone without your consent.

You may elect to sign a release of confidentiality which allows me to share information with your physician, a family member or any other person chosen by you.

If you are a patient of Integrative Natural Health, I will ask you for a waiver of confidentiality allowing me to share information with Dr. Richard or Dr. Meisel so that we may coordinate our treatment.

There are exceptions to confidentiality which are also required by law.  In these situations, confidentiality may be waived and measures taken to protect your safety and the safety of others.

Exceptions to confidentiality include:

- if you become a danger to yourself
- if your mental condition presents a danger to others
- if you threaten to harm another person or persons
- if there is reasonable suspicion of child abuse, elder abuse or
   dependent adult abuse
- if your mental condition becomes an issue in a lawsuit
